Nav Option, ’07 Tahoe

I need some advice on adding Nav to an '07 Tahoe 2LT. I have looked into adding OEM Nav from Ebay, but I can't locate a unit for a good price. After looking at the Pioneer options, It looks like the avic-N3 would be an option. Is it possible that I can use one of the double din types Avic-Z1 on my truck? The truck looks to have a 2xdin opening. Looking on Crutchfield, it says that I can't use this. I called them and they guy indicated that i can't use ANY replacement as I would lose the door chime. Does anyone have any experience on what my options are? I really like the double din look of the Z1 or the eclipse units. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are no current products available to replace the factory radio in these trucks easily. To my knowledge there are no mounting plates or radio delete modules available for the newer GM CAN/LAN bus system. It is possible, as I have seen other installers do it. I haven't any of the particulars on how they did it except to say it wan't easy. You will have to relocate the factory radio and leave it intact and wired into the data bus of the vehicle. You will need to add a speaker to it for the door chimes and Onstar, if equipped. If the vehicle has factory video, you will also have to install another DVD player for it, as the factory DVD player is in the radio. If you haven't done a large custom install or interfaced alot of factory equipment yet, I would strongly advise you to either wait for the product to be marketed or install a stand alone NAV system with a dash mounted screen. Forget about trying to put in a factory NAV unit. It would be easier and cheaper to buy another truck with it equipped that way.

So not true. I have had a Metra GMOS-LAN-01 for months. I have also had a double din Metra dash kit for about two months longer. It is the same kit as the 06 Impala. So you should be able to use any double din radio you want.

Yes, we have done tons of them. There's a couple companies making kits and interfaces, like PAC and the OS10....

what wire do you use for vss? I am doin an 07 suburban with avn 5500 no vss wire I heard sometimes the wire is not at the plug at ecm pin 57 in 73 pin plug (yellow/black if its there) but you can put a wire in the spot and it will work. The truck also has panasonic 7" flipdown that I need to interface with, is it databus to turn it on.

Yes, you can just shove the wire in if it isn't there. Not sure about the 5500, but the AVN 50D doesn't need the VSS, After initial start up and a short drive it stops asking for a VSS and works great. If it has the factory DVD, it is Databus.

Pac now has a harness out that retains all the factory options like Bose, Onstar, Reverse Sensor audio outputs, Memory Seat settings. Everything you lose when adding an aftermarket head unit. The harness also includes wires for VSS and Parking Brake signals. Very nice piece...
