I got my Alpine IVA-W200 DVD player installed today, but when I try to play a DVD, or music CD, it shows it as playing on the screen (the time of track/movie is running), but i get no sound or picture in DVD mode. The radio works fine. Do you know what it could be?

That unit has a parking brake, foot brake sequence that must be done before it will display a picture.  As far as sound, it could be possible that your car has a factory amp (or aftermarket) and the installer didn't hook up the amp turn on wire, instead used the power antenna lead.  Need to hook up blue/white, not blue (unless you have a power antenna)
