Hello everyone. Well for the life of me I cant get this grounding things figured out. my whole system has a big grounding issue! I own a 2006 chrysler 300. I have an avicn2, 2 headrest t.v.s, 2 amps (one for subwoofers, one for 4 channel speakers) power acoustik plasma amps. my speakers are kicker 3 ways 6x9s. so my 4channel amp is not even hooked up because of the ridiculous ground noise! I have connected my headrest t.v.s and they have those annoying lines going through them (ground noise) WTF? where should i ground my t.v.s where I wont have this happen. Can I just drive my car off the cliff?
What is most important is that all of your equipment is operating at the same voltage. Take a digital multimeter and read the DC voltage at your car's battery, while the car is running. Let's say it reads 13.4 Volts. Now take the same readings on all of your equipment. ie.. radio,amps,dvd player, tv screens, eq's, preamp, extra batteries, caps, etc. Do they all read the same exact voltage within 0.1 Volts? If they are all the same then there is no ground problems you may have defective and/or crappy product. If one or more reads a different voltage then make it the same as the rest of the equipment. Sometimes devices that retrieve its power via the fuse box might be at a lower voltage than the battery. Maybe by only 0.5 Volts. But that is enough to cause engine noise, clicks,pops, ghosting, etc. How do you make it the same? Simple go directly to the battery for power and ground with appropriate sized inline fuses.
for the lines in the screens you can try a inline capacitor. they usually get rid of the problem. as for the amp I would say you better check where your rcas are ran. keep them away from power wires. also power acoustic isnt known to be the best quality.
