I installed the pnav system from Kenwood in my 2003 jeep liberty. (KVT 617 DVD / KNA-G510 Everything works great except for the nav unit.  It doesnt work at all in Manhattan.  Once i get close to manhattan, it loses the signal.  Once I leave manhattan, the signal comes back and the unit works fine.  I have tried to mount the antenna inside the car, and outside the car.  Either way I get no signal in/around manhattan.  The VSS wire has not been connected as of yet because I do not know where it is!.  Kenwood Tech says it shouldnt affect it for my reasons.  Any ideas??  Any help would be appreciated.

its not the antenna or the install.. ive had the same problem with my alpine unit down here in atlanta... the GPS satellite doesnt link correctly.... the speed sensor wire doesnt have anything to do with the actuall signal but it is a CRUCIAL wire to be installed. that tells the navagation what speed you are going so that the nav can calculate how long it takes to get to your destination. i can get that

also, do you by any chance have the wiring diagram for the KVT-617DVD, i just got one for 200 bux and i dont know what wires go to what

email me at lijlaudioli@yahoo.com

No, actually the kenwood unit doesn't use a VSS at all.  In fact, there is not VSS wire in the harness

I had the same issue with my Kenwood in Chicago. lijlaudioli is right, the problem has nothing to do with either the install or the antenna.
