I have the Pioneer AVIC N2 and this has been bugging me for a while. I have the brain mounted in my center console and when the volume is low the fans drive me crazy running they are that loud. Is the anybody out there that has encountered this problem? I guess I am probably stuck with hearing it just wanted to hear what others had to say. You can hear them whirling in the center console when the unit is on and the volume is low. Thanks for your feedback in advanced.

I don't know how you got your brain in the center console while maintaining the correct orientation of the unit. It has to be horizontal and pointed the correct direction. Anyway, I put mine under the co-pilot's seat with some velcro. As long as you don't have a lot of crap rolling around in your car that can hit the brain you shouldn't have any problems or noise. Another possibility is that the fans are going south. If there's any grinding or rattling you have a problem. All you should here is a light hum (which may be augmented by the enclosed space of the center console). Let us know what happens.
