Hey guys, i just got a avh-p7500dvd, i tried to install it but something weird happens. It appears that the unit has power because the little red light that flashes when the HU is turned off is flashing, however, the unit doesnt turn on, the monitor dont move, and the lights dont come on, i dont know why this is... any idea guys?

Use a dmm to test power to +12 volt and switched +12 volt, make sure your ground is connected to a solid ground, check the fuse in the back of the 7500.  One of those should solve your problem.

ummm well i have another theory... do i have to plug the "power supply" plug in to the hideaway unit?? i wasnt provided with the plug and i thought maybe i dont need it? do i need it for the HU to work and the monitor and stuff to move? thanks!

by the way, i dont think it is the connection with the 12v and ground because they are all color coded arnt they? i connected the red to red, yellow to yellow and black to black... however the light green wire which i think is the wire for the e-brake thingy, i didnt ground it yet, but regardless, i should still be able to turn on even when the green wire isnt grounded right?? And yea i checked the fuse, its fine, nothing seems wrong there.

thanks for the reply again.

the wires are color coded but a fuse could be blown, in your situation im not sure i but i think the 30 pin cable supplies the hideaway box.  check the install manual, if you are supposed to connect power to the hideaway box then test those wires with a dmm too.  your problem definately seems to be power related.

would i have to connect that cord? i thought its a power cord for the center speaker? or is it for the hideaway unit?? the next page of the installation manual talks about installing the power cord which is the "30 pin cable" that connects to the HU... it says "connecting power cord (2) "

thanks for the help warpedimage3!

there is a plug on the hideaway box that says power supply, you have to connect the power and ground there, if you dont have a center channel speaker then dont use those wires

The hideaway box MUST be powered up and connected or the screen will do exactly what yours is doing, flashing a light and nothing else.
