When installing screens in the headrests, where is the best place to get 12 volt power?

From the alternator...  OK, I know that was a smart-ass answer but it's true.  The best source for power for any add-on is to run power cable from the battery positive post with proper fusing.

Ok , but how do i know what proper fusing is? Will the specs say so that come with the monitors?

most monitors i've ran into have some sort of fuse coming off of them, if not it should say in the manual somewhere.

If you install dozens of these a week on a "production" basis we tend to look for the quicker, easier places to grab power...still keeping safety, reliability and professionalism as job one.

Now keep in mind the current draw of a headrest screen is very small...as you may have noticed by the fuse rating that comes with it....so connecting to the battery itself is not at all required or nessecary.

The next thing to keep in mind is that most people would wish the monitor to turn off when the key is turned off...so you really want to hook this to an accessory wire tapped from the ignition harness. If connecting constant 12v wires you can also grab this at the ignition harness.

Now keep in mind as well that some...but not many vehicles today do not have the voltage, current or even the correct polarity at the ignition harness. If you are unlucky enough to run into one of these and do not know for sure the correct places to tap power wires for 12v (these tap points exist but not everyone knows where they are depending on the vehicle) then by all means go to the battery....better safe then sorry.
