Anyone hear anything good or bad about the Pioneer AVIC-D3?  I can get one fairly cheap from the place I work and wondering if it is worth it.  What are the differences between the D3 and D2?

It has alot of cool new features. You can change all of the on screen colors via touch screen selection, It has front a/v inputs, and all the last ipod connectivity including using the cable like alpine does. Thats just a few. Can I ask where u work?

Yes, the deal killer for me is having to put in the NAV disc every time I want to do any kind of routing. Otherwise, I would have bought one immediately.

Phantom, There are 2 NAV disks that come with the unit .... Eastern USA and Western USA.  Because of the GREATLY improved ipod connectivity, Pioneer figured that you need only 1 optical drive and no hard drive.  You can leave the NAV DVD Disk in the optical drive all the time and use the ipod for your music enjoyment (instead of your music CD's).  But if you still want to listen to your CD's then the D3 has enough NAV memory for about 100 miles or so around your starting location.  After the NAV DVD loads into memory, just remove it and use the optical drive for your CD's.

Suntints...  First impressions from the "guys in the know" that have received their D3's from Crutchfield today are saying that there are no empty pins on the wire harness to ground the e-brake for a by-pass.  They are working on a by-pass now and some of these guys are A+ techs with these units.  I bet a by-pass is discovered by the end of next week!

I am waiting on the same thing. There are two empty slots on the main harness. There located on the left side next to the rca. I will keep everyone updated on anything I find out.
