I recently had an overhead dvd player installed in my 2007 Expedition.  The installers hooked it up where it is on all the time including when the ignition is off.  They said they had to do it this way because some Ford's do not have an accessory position on the ignition.  is this true?  If not, how can this be corrected?  I asked why they could not tap into a wire at the fuse box and they said the best place was behind the radio and nothing but a hot wire (at all times) was available.

It's because they were lazy. There's a switched ignition wire at the ignition switch (WHITE/ ORANGE) that they could have used. I'm sure there's also other's in the fuse box as well.

hi,

the fuse labeled F41 (15A) in the SJB (right kickpanel) is delayed accessory power.  it will remained powered with the key off, until a door is opened..or till it times out.  there is no switched power behind the radio, it, among other modules in the vehicle, is data bus controlled.

hope this helps

Thanks for the quick reply.

What does "Data Bus Controlled" mean?

well i'll rephrase...they're all linked together via a databus...if the radio sees the correct signal/information on the data bus, it will be enabled..able to power up and operate.  oversimplified but i hope that explains it
