ok a customer got a used car from some old guy. he calls me for an ipod adapter, after searching for any info on the factory nav i told him i need to see it. he brings it in to my shop and i see a nav disc drive in the thrunk, cd changer in the glovebox, and an aftermarket xm antenna cable hangin out of the passenger dash by the glovebox.
i open the glove and what do i find? a nice looking black panel with yellow, white and red rca inputs. its marked clearly video in and audio in. the kid buys a new ipod video and unfortunatly i dont have the video out plug for it just one with s-video. i ended up pluging a demo xm into his cig. lighter and plug in the rca jacks............. nothing
no setting on the deck to turn aux on, he had all his owners manuals so i read though them and didnt see one thing about a/v's in the glovebox. soo i pull his gb out to see if it really is factory installed. behind it is a 10 pin plug that goes right into the other glove box wires! obviously factory installed but i still cant get audio or video to show.
If anyone owns one or has recently installed in one let me know i would really like to get the kid what he needs
thanks
This one is stumping me. I went on some cadillac forums and found a few other people that noticed the a/v inputs in the glovebox of thier factory nav equipped caddis.
No one responded with how they work..except to say the dealer was of no help either (big surprise there).
If no one else can help you..there is some hope...a good friend of mine I have known forever in this industry works for a company that makes interfaces that allows audio as well as video to the factory nav screens. I use the products and they work great so his company apparently knows thier stuff.
I will ask him on Monday. if anyone knows about this it should be him so if no one responds by monday you may have an answer from me then.
