it all depends on the vehicle. suburbans have a thin metal brace that goes across the headliner right behind the sunroof, yukons have the one in front and another back a couple of inches. these allow you to screw through them (at the low points so you dont have screws protruding into the sunroof cover) to attach your mounting brackets.

expeditions and explorers dont have anything up there so its either mounting the bracket behind the headliner and sandwhiching the headliner in-between the screen and the bracket or taking the headliner down and using thin steel bars, running a grid across the roof and making a place for the screen bracket to bolt to. this requires carefull measuring so everything is straight when your done.

acura's and honda's also have the braces in the front on most models, so you can do the above for suburbans for mounting the screens.

mercedes benz's suck because most newer ones have a solid plate up there that doesnt separate with the headliner so you have to measure and cut carefully to mount the brackets. also there isnt any room for wires to run so you have to figure that out too.

like i said before it all depends on the vehicle. you want to make sure the screen is mounted securely so that in the event of an accident the screen doesn't become a projectile and possibly injure people/kids. you gotta make sure your wires are out of the way so they dont get caught by the sunroof when it opens and closes. removing the sunroof usually requires removing 2 screws on each side then lifting the glass out. the covers are usually on a track system so popping some tabs in or a few screws is all they take to get out of the way. once all that stuff is gone its loads easier to see whats going on up there and you don't have to remove the headliner at all.

Camry's have a steel brace that holds the dome light in.  Perfect for shoving a few screws through to mount an overhead.  Just did one todayposted_image
