I had a Rosen A9 DVD installed in my 2003 Dodge Caravan Sport in 2004 by the Dodge dealer I bought van from. About a year ago the unit started acting up. When we got in the van we would see a red light on the unit. It would clear if you opened unit to power on then close again. It later on started to reset itself when using it. About a week ago it wouldn't power on anymore at all.
I'm looking for information on this unit. There is a 4 conductor power connection on the unit. I checked there with a DVM and see 12 volts. So it looks like there is power to it. The only other connection connected I see is labled FMM. Does anyone know what that connection is? The other connectors, that have nothing connected are TV Tuner, VCP and Screen 2. The audio on my unit is via the Van's radio turned to a FM station. So I don't know what the FMM connection is for.
I have contacted Rosen support on this and they want me to send unit in. I requested a schematic but got no responce. I may send it in but wonder if unit is worth sending in. They want $35.00 just to look at it. Not bad to me but I'm concerned about how much it would cost to repair. I may just purchase a new unit. Not a Rosen. Just dont know how complex it is to put a new unit in myself.

Sounds a lot like a bad ribbon cable, from what I remember their repair rates are really not that bad. Just call them and ask if that particular unit has ribbon cable problems and if so how much is that repair? They have a really quick turnaround time also.
Good Luck gotta keep them kids happy

I sent unit into Rosen. They said they could not reproduce the problem. But they did say it had a problem with DVD not ejecting properly. So they are going to fix that and send unit back to me.
I'm a little perplexed why it works for them. As I said I measured voltage at connector that attaches to Rosen. When someone installs one of these where would they get voltage from? Do the van manufacturers provide voltage up in ceiling of van? My unit was hooked up so the only time unit would power on was when van was running.

There is not usually a switched wire in the roof of your vehicle. About the FMM connection, I would assume that would be the FM Modulator connection, if this is not being used, your unit must have an FM Transmitter. They do not always work that great so the FM Mod connector is a backup incase you are having trouble with the transmitter. If you get it back in and it is still cuting out, you should be able to figure out which direction the wires go. THey will go to the A pillar between windshield and front door. Or to the B pillar between the front and rear door. Once you figure out which way they go you should be able to follow them to their power source.
