i have 2002 bmw x-5 i i do not want to move the instrument cluster to gain access to the speed sensor so can i locate it any where else like in the rear where i got my unit mounted at or in the engine compartment what color wire is it can anyone help

The speed sense wire is located behind the instrument cluster and it is BLACK/ white.

First reply is right but if it is can that wire won't be there! Look for factory amp in one of the reasr panels, it's with the amp wiring loom on a 5 series saloon and the essentially similar (wiring anyway) Range Rover.
