Do you have 12v on the yellow wire at all times, and 12v on the red with ing, or acc on?

Well, that's not how it is supposed to work.  :)  What is the power source?  The yellow wire needs to have 12 volts constantly or you will lose our memory.  Can you turn on the HU with the ignition off?  If you have red and yellow connected together and you cannot turn the radio on with the key out of the ignition then you have it connected to the switched power.  The yellow goes to constant power (the battery) and the red goes to switched power, AKA the ACC.

there is a fuse most likley under the hood listed as radio, acc, someting like that, that is going to be blown. you can find the fuse and replace. or you can run a new wire to your ing harness. but it sounds like you should take it to your local Best Buy and let them troubleshoot it insted of you messing with it.

the fuse could be labled cabin light, dome light, or something completely different too. I typically just test them all as a favor to my customers.

that could cause the settings not to save... cause the radio fuse is fine
