I have a 95 geo tracker I am trying to install a GPS nav unit into. The Nav unit was salvaged from a 04 Rendezvou. Are there any manual transmission VSS emulators that can be sourced from the ign coil or something like that?

thanks

You wouldn't be able to simulate VSS from an ignition coil because RPM can NOT be translated in to speed (gearing).

You would need to look in to a wheel speed sensor, like ABS systems use, or an RPM sensor on the output shaft of the tranny (after the gears).

Thanks Kevin,

That is sort of a "Doh!" moment for me there isn't it.   Thanks for the proper redirection. That being said, anybody know of anything for those kind of pulse generators.

Don't waste your time. If the radio came out of a Rendevous you will never get it to work in the Tracker. The radio is a Class II data unit and will only turn on via a data message from the body control module in the Rendevous. Buy an aftermarket Nav radio. Once you have done that, you tap into the VSS wire at the ECM under the driver's side dash.

Thanks Sparky,

I figured it would be a long shot anyway, but since it was free, I thougt I would give it a shot. You may have saved me a lot of trouble. I was only going to go further if Delphi actually sent me the pinouts I requested from them. Thus far they have not responded. With your information I don't think I will continue pushing for those pinouts.

Thanks,

randy
