Would it be possible to use the radio antenna by splicing into it and connecting to the tv's external antenna RCA jack? Would this work?

That shouldn't be a problem. The reception wouldn't be that great but it could be done. I would recommend that you get a Y adapter for the antenna, that way you don't ruin the factory antenna lead trying it. If I remember right a fm antenna is tuned to about channel 8 for tv(don't quote me on that).
