I have a 2000 tahoe Z71 (Old Body Style)I want to replace the slave single CD player with a mobile DVD player for my flip down screen. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this. I popped the dash cover loose, but getting it off appears to be a pain. I already tore the rubber gear shift boot, just getting a look inside. I've been told a BOSS DVD 2000 will fit in place of the CD, does anyone have any experience with this unit. Its pretty inexpensive, I wonder about quality. Finally is there a trick to releasing the CD player from its mount.

Actually its fairly easy to remove the dash cover.
1) Place gearshift in its lowest position I believe thats low 2.
2) The dash bezel is fairly large so what you want to do is simply pry it away with your fingers until it unsnaps. Unsnap it evenly so that you dont break any thing. I usually start on top left of the dash bezel and work my way around.
3) Now disconnect all the connectors ( headlight switch, airbag key switch.....)
4) Simply depress clips on each side of the slave unit and pull forward. Disconnect wire harness and your done.
As for the dvd player it will fit in that location but you will need to trim the dash bezel a tad and fabricate a bracket to support the player. We sell the qwestar dvd player and the movies to go dvd player both are identical in size to the boss unit. You could also benefit from a our PAC AAI-GM9 this will allow you to interface the audio from the dvd into your stereo if you are keeping the factory radio with out having to use a fm modulator.
