hey guys just flicking through the internet looking into oscilloscopes and digital multimeter combos as a friend has one form snap on, id like to get one as im setting up my own business installing car alarms and will be going into audio once i leave my current job ( got to be carfull as they dont sell security but do sell audio) and id like to be more than just a fitter as i have been for a few years, id like to be able to set up sytems and such for my own customers and provide the better service then the retailers around here do
i found htis and wondered if any of you guys would care to comment on it

Links to certain websites are not allowed here. The Server filters them out. The number of installers or install shops that have a scope is a very low number.

If it is the one that you can buy now for 73 dollars, I am not going to trust it. It is made in China, and I know they can make things cheaper than any other source. 73 dollars for an oscilloscope is very cheap.

Probably as good as the Chinese car alarms.
You won't need a scope for alarm work.
Save up for a diagnostic tool to turn off the DTC lights you are going to leave on.
------------- Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.

also any recomendations for a diagnostics tool that will become very usefull ? we just send them to the dealer and foot the bill as the company has plenty of cash for tht kinda thing, mind u i havent done it too many times but it still does happen and £30 - £50 a time can mount up :s

Unfortunately there's a large cost factor involved, the ones that will read and clear e.g. Bosch, Snap-On etc. start at around £4000 ($6000) and up.
A) Get friendly with the dealers (good luck)
B) I've got to speak again with my Snap-On guy, there is equipment coming out soon that should be cheaper.
Look at web sites in the UK such as tooled up.
The advantage of the Bosch is it contains circuit diagrammes.
As for alarms in the UK, frankly unless they get R/S going in this country you're flogging a dead horse!
Your ears should tell you how well you've installed an amplifier set-up, e.g. clipping, phase cross over points etc.
