I haven't personally built one but I've seen several.  What did you want to know?

There's actually a few thread on here about that same subject. If I remember correctly a member built one and posted pictures and said he didn't much care for the way it sounded.

Metal tends to resonate heavily and the only way that I would think that you could get rid of it would be to line the hell out of it with Dynamat or heavy undercoating.

And that would be one hell of a heavy box!!!!!

The enclosure is for a truck. Im decent at welding and i plan to use alot of sound deadning in it. i was just wondering about the resonating quality of metal.

Use aluminum, not steel, and you can eliminate most resonance problems.  You want your enclosure to be acoustically neutral and not resonate at all.  If you must use steel, build it oversize and line it with MDF (actually build an MDF enclosure and then cover it with metal) for best results.

what grade of aluminum and how thick?

5052 or 6061, 3/8" or 1/2" thick.  Plate is better than sheet, honeycomb is better than solid.  It can get expensive.
