Hi All,

I am trying to install a remote start to my 01 Corolla, however, I am running into an issue which I am not sure where to connect the orange mark wires shown in the first 1 pic
Model: Compustar CS925S

below are the two diagrams I am looking at. anyone knows the answer please.

CN1/5 (blue- leave at default ignition) to ignition 2 (black/yellow)

CN3/4 (black) used to control the external starter kill relay (if desired)- see link below for diagram
CN3/5 (orange) to factory arm (blue/black)
CN3/6 (orange/white) to factory disarm (green/white)
CN3/10 (red/white) not required*
CN3/11 (red) not required*
CN3/12 (yellow/black) to any fuel injector (do
not use the common color- black/white wire)

*These can be used if you want to be able to remote start from your factory remote. Typically they are connected to a door lock actuator wire so when you press lock the programmed number of times it will start. Or you could install a momentary (push button) switch inside the vehicle if you wanted. You don't need to connect both. Decide if you want it triggered by a negative or positive pulse and connect accordingly.

I am kind of new in installing the Remote start and security system for the vehicle...
For CN3/4 (black), does the following link apply to my case? mine does not have a factory security system, I mean, which wire do I connect it to?

Hi all,

I've successfully installed most wires to my 2001 Toyota Corolla, and was able to remote start it yesterday, but there are few wires I'm not sure which ones to connect these to, need help on this please!!!
Module: CM-900s-C925s

CN#1.2: (+)12v Light (Green/White)
What is this for? which one to connect?

CN#3.4: (-)Status output (Black)
Do I have to wire this to the ignition coil through the firewall?

CN#3.12: Teach/Alt sensing output(Yellow/Black)
It's to control the external starter kill relay, but I am still not understanding where should this connect to...

First thing to point out, not all CM900-s wires will be used. It is a generic unit designed to support a large and diverse assortment of application vehicles.

CN1-2 Green/White Default setting is (+) Parking Lights
Your 2001 Toyota Corolla can use either (+) or (-) Parking Light control. Which one did you choose? You only need one connection, either this (+) wire or the CN3-1 thin Green/White (-) wire connected to the appropriate vehicle wire. (-) Parking Light = LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (-) @ STEERING COLUMN HARNESS or (+) Parking Light = GREEN (+) @ BOTTOM OF FUSEBOX. If you used the thin Green/White wire, the thick Green/White wire is not used or re-programmed with Feature 1-06 (Parking Light, 2nd Starter, or (+) Trunk Release) for another use.

CN3-4 Black (-) Status Output
Typically used to control a bypass module. Your vehicle does not have a transponder based ignition immobilizer system. This wire is not used in your application. It is a POC so it could be programmed to another type of output, if you had the OP-500 programmer.

CN3-12: Teach/Alt sensing output(Yellow/Black)
This is not an output, it is an input. The Tach sensing is used to sense the vehicles engine RPM and control the CM900-s Starter Output. It should be connected to an engine spark coil wire and Tach learned for best cold weather engine starting with no over or under crank.

There should be a full Compustar CM900-s install guide in the downloads section that will provide full wire explanations and programming info.

Thanks for your response!

was just having trouble understanding the words like 12v light lol??, and status output? But I've figured out most of them because of the response on this thread, I have 2 different wiring diagram for the car, but haven't done this many times.

But one more question to the Tach wire, do I really have to run the wire thru the firewall to splice into the ignition coil wire or is there a related wire that I can splice into in the interior like in the steering column?

Re Tach wire :

The CM900-s is capable of Tachless operation. With no actual Tach connection, the R/S crank time is a calculated guess. You might get over crank or failure to start on the first or second attempt when it's cold. Running a wire thru the firewall is possible using a factory grommet hole but care must be taken when near any metal, rotating objects and hot areas. It is best to use split loom tube to protect the Tach wire. Unless your Corolla has the Factory Alarm system with Hood Pin, you should be running the Hood Pin wire thru the firewall anyway. The Hood Pin is an important safety feature that should not be omitted.

I did find a possible alternate location inside the vehicle for the Tach signal as shown below :

Tach Signal - BLACK (AC)    AT ENGINE CONTROL MODULE
Engine Control Module is located behind the center console at Pin 27 of the 28 pin connector.

Additionally, a lot of Toyota's have a wire at Pin 9 of the OBD2 connector that is a Tach signal. The wire color is typically Black/Orange or Black. Making a connection and attempting a Tach Learn will not harm anything.
