tips for small prong switches and jumpers

I'm wiring up a switch panel and the illuminated switches I picked up have 5 prongs that are really small. I started by using female crimp ends to go over the prongs, but they are so small and delicate that it was hard to get them in there without either touching the ends or bending the prongs. So I started soldering the wires directly to the prongs. is there a better way? The other thing is that I'm connecting all of the power and grounds with one wire, connected to all switches. Is there a clean recommended way to connect the wires together? I stripped back some insulation and soldered them into each other, but it it's a bit messy. Last, how about the same for jumpers, where I want the output of the switch NO to go back to relay and over the + prong to illuminate the switch while turned on. I have 8 switches, so it's going to be a heck of a lot of connections.

Didn't explain myself too well, I meant that soldering is the best method.

Agreed. If 'small' pins it's the only way of ensuring good connection and NOT having any mechanical strain on the pins.    It makes replacement a PITA tho (hence modular or wired-connector assemblies).
