This subwoofer wiring application includes diagrams for Single Voice Coil (SVC) and Dual Voice Coil (DVC) speakers. A SVC speaker has one voice coil and one set of terminals, one positive (+) and one negative (-). A DVC speaker has two voice coils, each with its own set of terminals. Because of this, DVC speakers (typically subwoofers) offer more wiring options than SVC speakers.
Note: Many of the wiring options shown in this application may not be compatible with your amplifier because of low impedance loads. Please check your amplifier owner's manual to determine the best wiring option and verify the overall impedance load is compatible with your amplifier before making any connections. When making any connections, observe proper polarity to prevent damage to your amplifier and/or speaker system. *The physical location of the positive (+) and negative (-) speaker terminals shown in some diagrams have been reversed for easier readability.
