So it all started when my fiance said she wanted a Remote Start for this winter. Sooo, me loving to have fun and learn something new, I decided to tackle the task of installing it myself for a Christmas present!
I purchased a Avital Avistart 4103 Remote Auto Car Start Starter & Keyless Entry System, along with Directed DEI 556UW Universal Remote Start Starter Bypass Module. 50 bucks total on Ebay, not bad.
I read hard and LONNG! and I cannot find the right answer to fix this. Failed starts
I have the remote start 90% installed and working. Trunk pops, car starts, doing the locks tomorrow. The problem is, sometimes when I hit the remote start on the FOB it doesn't start the car, it triggers the start and it goes through the stages of 'turning the key forward' but the car doesn't start, and if the alarm is armed it triggers that. The car doesn't require a starter wire I have read, the engine automatically starts when the accessory wire drops. The remote start does indeed work 100% when I am only starting and shutting off the car with the remote starter. When I use the key normally with no remote start, the remote start won't work unless I start the car, shut it down, then try the remote start. Then the remote start works fine, if I use my key normally without the remote start then the remote start sync's out.
Is the problem possible I don't have both the Accessory wires connected? There is an accessory wire on the key sense harness and the ignition harness. I only tapped into the ignition accessory
Thanks for any help

youre having a transponder collision. make sure your bypass only runs during remote start. blue/white (-) status output to 556uw bypass ground.
btw not the best bypass to use, i wouldhave used a data style bypass. cleaner, less wires, and you'd have it installed in under an hour with door locks, trunk, factory alarm control, tach,pk3 bypass, etc

Alright, well get this! I disconnected the bypass unit, and the remote start works and functions the same. I could have swore I read this car needs a bypass module. Definitely od

Anyone ever hear of failed starts with a cobalt?\
I am not running my bypass either
I can get the remote start to function properly if I use it while the car is already started and then use the remote start to shut off the car after the key is removed. Then the remote start works perfect. if I start with key only and shutoff with key only, the remote start only does failed starts.
