It's most likely your alternator or the wires in between. The battery only starts the car and supply's power up until the alternator can catch up. But if the car just stalls when your applying gas that leads me to believe it's a charging issue you have on your hands.
Any battery is fine in -10, it's not really extreem temperatures, you only live in Michigan, it's not cold enough that batteries die like you described. Maybe in Tuktoyaktuk Canada, but not anywhere in the lower US. Address your charging issues by getting the alternator tested, and at the same time, get the battery tested.

it would take 2 group 31's sized batteries to propperly hold up to 5000 watts even with a highoutput alt. think of it this way the more power you need the greater the fluctuation between output at a given rpm. IF at idle you have the draw of nearly 500 amps alot will come from the battery. for a DAILY purpose it is good to allow this load to be shared with 2 batteries like Kinetik 2400's.
