Okay, I just got back from Future Shop and I had to laugh at their prices... C$69.99 for 6 meters (18.6 ft) of 4 gauge Stinger power wire... sheesh, talk about a rip off... I can get 0 gauge industrial grade power wire for $0.99/ ft or about $19 for the same length of wire.

Now, I know getting the purest copper is VERY important in speaker wires. Vallhalla by Nordost uses copper that is only 1ppb (1 part per billion) oxygen, ie 99.999999% OFC or something like that and uses the highest grade teflon insulation, individually shielded with mylar shielding and uses obstruded (sp?) silver coating, etc, etc and their sound quality is incomparable with ANYTHING in the car audio world. Does it matter for power cable? A DC signal is a DC signal... it has no waveform and shouldn't matter, IMO.  Also, what kind of wires do YOU use in your setup/installs? With the extremely high noise floor of a car, I'm guessing 99.9% OFC wire is good enough.

Do you agree or am I way off here? In case you're wondering, the Vallhalla cables sell for US$1000/ft.

When it comes down to it, the O2 free stuff is only hype. When you open up the ends, they will still turn green over time and if you can find some decent stuff with higher strand counts, go for it. Stinger is really good stuff, but your paying for the name. We find that our no name stuff sell 5:1 over the brand name cable of the same gauge and length. Our no name stuff is just as high a strand count, but doesn't have Stinger or RF silk screened every 6 " on the cable housing. We sell this stuff ( 4 gauge for $ 2.50 ft Canadian $$ and this is the clear jacket stuff ( not the solid colored insulation ).
