I'm helping my cousin do an install on his 2002 Lexus is300, and I can't get the top part of the back seat off. I got the lower portion off easy, but I don't know if I should pull up or out on the top part. I took off the bolts on the bottom, I just don't want to pull the top in the wrong way and mess it up.

some cars have hidden bolts in the armrest area or the head rest area of the back seats, also make sure you got all the bolts between the bottom part and back part of the back seat.

There should be either 2 or 3 bolts at base of backrest, seat should then slide upwards to release.

How hard should you have to push upwards because I was pushing pretty hard and it seemed like something was holding it on. I could pull up harder, but I really don't want to risk damaging anything.
