4-ch Amp

Just out of curiosity,

If you have a 4 ch amp and bridge the first 2ch into a sub; couldnt you just bridge the last 2 ch into that sub as well to double the power.

Let me better understand your question you want to bridge a 4 channel amp to 1 channel am in correct?

If bberman is correct in his interpretation: Depending on the construction of the amp, you may be able to put the amplifiers in series. But if all the negatives are common, you will blow the amp if it doesn't have short protection. In general, I'd say not to do this, because it's most likely that the amp will blow. But if you have dual subs or a DVC sub (make sure the signal to both coils is the same, no stereo sh*t to 1 speaker!), then bridge 2 channels for 1 sub and 2 channels for the other sub. Keep in mind that the load doubles for the amp when you bridge it, so run a 4 ohm speaker/coil per 2 channels if the amp is 2-ohm stable (most likely), or an 8 ohm speaker/coil per 2 channels if it is only 4-ohm stable.

You are correct but most likely he has a 4 channel AB class amp. Now on an AB class amp it’s almost impossible to have the same signal going to each voice coil on the sub.

Ok one more, Do you guys like the idea of one dual voice coil sub hooked up into the amp or just the old fashioned way 2 subs with the channels bridged. (Using 12" Sony explode subs) I AM ON A BUDGET OK! FAMILY MAN!

by the way its a SONY EXPLOD 4 channel amp, which I will give to any one for a FOSGATE 500 BD (LMAO)!

I would run it as 2 chanels using 2 subs( one sub on each channel). You cannot run it as a single channel you will blow up the amp!
