I am almost finished installing a remote starter in my brother in-laws 07 Dodge Ram.  Only thing I have left to do is the parking lights.

I have read numerous posts saying it must be triggered via a relay and 1130ohm resistor.  I have no knowledge of relays.... so please help me out.

Do I need a 4 prong relay or a 5 prong relay??

Most of all -- How do I wire the relay?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention my Remote starter has the option for a pos (+) or (-) neg parking light output also.  If i just use the (-) neg output.... could I just wire the 1130 ohm resistor to it and directly connect to the vehicles parking light wire??

OK....

If that does working correctly.... can you please still post how I would hook up the relay using the positive parking light output from the remote starter?

Thanks

huh? i just use the positive trigger output from the alarm and pick up the WHITE/ yellow and WHITE/ gray wires in the driver kick panel and diode isolate. no relay, no resistor needed.

you have individual possitive wires one for each side fine the two wires and then go to radio shack and buy 2 3 or 6 amp diodes
twist the no stripped side of both diodes together then connect the positive wire from rs system to the twisted side of the diodes. then take the other two ends of the diodes and connect one to each vehicle parking light wire then your done and the two light wires are still isolated from each other.
or you can go the negative route
at the swtich find the WHITE/ lt. green wire and about 3 inches from swich cut it.
then take a relay and connect the switch side of cut wire to pin 87a center pin
connect the other side of the cut wire to pin 30
pin 85 connect to possitive output from remote start system.
pin 86 ground
pin 87 place your 1130 ohm reistor between pin 87 and pin 86 this will be the resisted ground output you need. your done.

i made a mistake, if ur gonna do the negative parking lights you'll need a relay, as the on baoard circuit will already have resistors inserting another in line between alarm and car wire will give a resistance higher than required and not turn on ur lights, orr ou can go the positive trigger way like those guys mentioned above,
