So I've got a newer Harley coming into my shop next week for me to do a deck, xm satellite radio and 4 speakers. Now I've never done work to a bike before so I'm willing to take any advise that you guys have to offer. The deck and front speakers will be pretty straight forward, its the satellite radio and the rear speakers that I'm concerend about. The customer has hard shell saddle bags that he's wanting the speakers intalled into, and I figured on making some sort of small enclosure for the speakers to fit into, and tucking the XM tuner box into one of the bags. Any tips for disasembly, enclosure construction, etc?

I think what Livewire is trying to tell you is, mount the speakers as far apart as physically possible.  This will help with the stereo separation and give you better sound.  The end of his statement only leads me to believe that he has never ridden one.

you need to ask owner if bike has a power commander, if it does DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND BEFORE YOU INSTALL ANYTHING, that power module is HELLA sensitive, and CHANGING ANYTHING EVEN A LIGHT BULB WILL CAUSE THE UNIT TO FAIL,any change in voltage WILL burn-out that unit, adapter harnesses for harleys can be bought from HAWG WIRED,,,,,trust me, my shop found this out the hard way and if the bars have been changed without using a factory extension kit get ready for a long install, good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
