2008 dodge ram 1500 qc remote start

I posted this over a year ago.

"I am looking for some details on how to add to the existing factory alarm in a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 QC.  This truck has the factory alarm and integrated key/remote.  I would like to add remote start and additional sensors to the alarm or replace it.  DEI sems to have the necessary interface but I am unsure which to use or if they will allow me to add remote start AND additional alarm sensors."

I had a couple of replies that seemed overly complicated.  So I waited hoping for better options.  It looks like their are some new modules that allow you to integrate directly into the harness and do not require permanent use of a spare key.  I want something that will allow remote start with automatic timeout and that will allow me to start the engine while leaving the doors locked (until I unlock them), and the alarm on.

Has anyone found something like this?  Can you comment on all the parts that were required and how difficult the install was?

Sounds like exactly what I am trying to avoid!! 

I put an Omega alarm/remote start system in my old truck that did exactly what I want now. Remote start *AND* independant alarm control.  So I could start my truck with the alarm turned on and doors locked.  Then unlock the car, get in, put the key in (just to on position), drive away.  If you opened the door w/o using the remote unlock, the alarm would sound and the engine would stop.  After a remote start, the preset period (you set it) would eventually expire and the engine would turn off automatically.

The Omega system was not expensive and had a lifetime warranty. But it was completely hardwired and required a key for the bypass. Quite an involved install.  If they had the same one for my newer RAM that used the computer bus interface (instead of all of the hard wiring), and required no dedicated key.  I would buy it!

It is really hard for me to tell how these new systems work and how many Extra pieces you need to complete the install!  

Hi, you can use the vehicle databus to control the doorlocks and alarm and also pickup many signals from the vehicle network as tach, doorpins, glow plug status.

In your vehicle a CAN module will be required to avoid hardwiring.

One of the modules you can use is the iDatalink ADS-AL CA (can fit any r.s.) or BLADE ALL with a Compustar.

Both products will be available through a professional install shop. The products should be installed by professionals since any bad alteration of your CAN network can affect the entire vehicle functionalities.

I am hoping someone will share first hand personal experience with this install and that they will share complete details of what it took to get the job done.

The products you suggested are probably good options but it seems they are incomplete by themselves. 

I have seen numerous posts with partial solutions that really don't help. Has anyone been able to install a system in the 08 RAM 1500 with the capabilities I described earlier?  If so, PLEASE chime in with details!   It would be greatly apreciated!
