just thought everyone might get a laugh out of this at my expense i bought a 86 cav z24 i'm going to trick out well when i got it the ignition was ripped out and there was a toggle and push button hanging from the collum (not very anti theft) so i figured rather than replace it it would be cool to make it just remote start so i added some bigger relays to a starter i had lying around and it worked . of coarse i only drove it back and forth to work never more than 15 min. well on a sat. night in heavy traffic in the middle of an innersection with a real hot date the 15 min. max run time suddenly dawned on me and almost caused a pile up i'm not realy asking for help on the subgect just thought evryone might get a kick out of it however if anyone knows a way around this or a model that allows infinate run time let me know (i currently have a bulldog stupid - Last Post -- posted image. rs1300e)

HI jeremy I would like to help you , but I need to know what kind of alarm system did you install on you car .

By the way have you check the owners manual of you alarm system , maybe there is some hint .

Do you not have a key to start the car ?? I'm not folllowing your situation very well ? The RS1300E starts the car for you but you don't have a key to insert into the key cylinder ? Please fill me in on this .

Using a remote start to have the car run when driving is not the answer that you are looking for. RS alarms are meant to start the car and either warm it up or cool it down, they are designed to be shut down when the car is in use. You could either buy the key cylinder or wire up a couple of relays to a toggle switch and when you get into the car after remote starting it and then hit the toggle and the car would stay running until you turn the toggle switch off.

thanks for the input it's a bulldog rs1300e r/s and i don't have a key cylynder i am going to strip the dash and stearing collum and customize it with fiberglass i wanted to leave the igg. switch (amongst other things) out for a smoother look. i have since hooked up a toggle & relays to turn the iggnition on however i would like to do away with all of that and just have the r/s i originaly had wired up external relays to the bulldog so i could drive with it without running the constant high amperage through the r/s but the owners manule gives me a max run time of 15 min. so i think i'm stuck with at least one small toggle wich is ok at least with the r/s i don't need a pushbutton to start it wich relievs my theft worries thanks again J

Does your alarm have a latched output?
Are your relays on your remote start external or internal?
Consider this:
You can use the remote start unit solely to crank the car initially, and use a latch circuit with external relays to keep the coil and any aux. circuits powered until you unlatch.
And best of all, you can use the one latched output to activate both the module and the relays. You will need a pulse generator to pulse the shutdown wire on the remote start module when you unlatch, to stop the module from trying to restart the car if your trip is less than 15 minutes, in which case the remote start module would still be active, would see the tach wire go dead, and would attempt to restart.
Two functions for pulse generator:
latch on = pulse to module activation
latch off = pulse to shutdown)
