Hello there! I need to bypass the passlock 2 system in my2004 impala, as it is old and busted and frequently leaves me stranded for up to a half hour while it relearns the darn key, especially when it's hot and muggy which is extra special.
Anyway, upon the advice of a local shop, I've obtained an xpresskit dball2 module that the seller said he programmed for me with the proper GM2 firmware for my car (seems right from the xpresskit application guide).
I took out my dash and underdash and connected the +12v, ground, and purple data wire (to the purple wire on the obd2 connector) and it came on with a solid red light.
I followed the instructions and turned the car on, and it showed a solid green for a few seconds and then I turned the car off. So that should be it right?
It doesn't seem to be bypassing anything. The security light on the display is still solid on like it was before. Am I missing something?
I don't need a remote start for this to work do I? If I do, will the good old avital 4103 work? If I'm reading it right I should just need to connect the +12, ignition, accessory, brake, and parking light wires, and then the d2d to the dball2 and I should be good to go right?
I must be missing something.

While the DB-ALL2 w/GM2 is slightly over-kill for your needs, it should work.  The only thing you omitted is supplying the signal to

turn on the DB-ALL2's  bypass function.  A simple two pole switch should do it.  One wire to chassis ground and the other wire to
Black 10 Pin Blue/White wire at Pin 10.  Turn the switch ON to start the car.  Turn it OFF when you stop the engine and exit the car.

To automate things, you could try connecting the DB-ALL2's Blue/White wire to this vehicle wire :

Keysense      lt. green (-)         @ ignition harness or BCM, gray 16 pin plug, pin B1

This way the DB-ALL2 bypass function would only turn on when you inserted a key into the ignition switch.

There is a $0.05 way to completely / permanently bypass the cars Passlock2 system using just a resistor, if you want to go that

route.

I've tried the resistor method, it only works temporarily. I got the dball because as i understand it, it sends the "all good" signal to through the data port regardless of if the passlock is actually working or not. amirite?
