2003 Pontiac Vibe - Please.

Hello Folks.

Would someone out there be able to help me? I am looking to install a Sirius Sattelite radio unit (Jensen Model) into a stock 2003 vibe radio unit. I believe I can just connect to the wites going into the stock radio but I am uncertian what wire is what. I would also like some ideas on the ground location. The Jenson unit will sit in the rear of the car, where is a goood ground under all that darn plastic? I believe the other ground can just hook into the head unit aswell.

I need Power, Memmory (alway's on) and ground.

This stereo is just the standard model I believe - My sisters car.

Please help..

When you look at the wires behind your radio they are color coded.  Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but power is the red wire, memory is yellow, and ground is black.  Just run wires up under your door panels to the radio.  Looking for a ground in the back of the car, I don't know my way around the Vibe so I can't help you.  I'll just say that, back when my car was made, there was this stuff called metal.  I guess that's kind of outdated because nobody seems to use it anymore...

The colors of the factory wires most likely do NOT follow EIA guidelines and therefore they're not necessarily gonna be red, yellow, and black.  If you take a look at this harness and compare it to your plug you will see which pins correspond to which factory wires, and can make your connections that way.  Also remember when doing fm modulators in GM cars you need two antenna adapters:  GM10 (Motorola M to OEM antenna F) and GM20 (OEM M to Motorola antenna F).

As far as grounding the tuner, I don't really remember much about the rear of this vehicle and can only suggest that you just pull back any interior panels that are in the way, until you find a spot of bare metal or metal that can have its paint scraped down to bare metal.

The color codes of the factory wiring is unimportant, because it is always poor practice to connect to wiring without testing it first.
All you have to do is use your meter or test light on each of the wires there until you find the two wires that do what you want.
Also, there are some wires at the radio that will test as ground, but they'll actually be parking light wires....if you find a ground there, turn the parking lights on, and run the dash dimmer up and down, and make sure it is STILL a ground.
If the radio's metal bracket screws into a solid metal part of the car, you could also put a ring terminal on your Sirius unit's ground wire, and attach it to one of the screws on the bracket.
