Let's say you've forgotten if you bought a dual 4 ohm or a dual 2 ohm sub. No markings on sub. I thought by connecting the leads of a multi-meter to the speaker leads it would tell me, but it came up 0 ohms. I'm sure this is an easy one for you.

make sure the meter is set to test for resistance, and if it's an analog meter make sure it has a working battery in it.  All you gotta do is test the positive and negative for each voice coil and you should get something like 2 or 4 ohms.

OK, Meter set to test for Resistence(Rx1). Zeroed the unit to 0 ohms. Brand new battery. One lead to one terminal, the other lead to the other terminal, (polarity doesn't matter). Result...0 ohms on a test speaker that I know is rated at 4 ohms. Same results with a different meter. What's up?

when checking resistence with most meters u need to actually move the red terminal wire into the plug to left of the black one , not on the right but to the left

Got it. Crap meter=bad readings.   Good meter=correct readings
