do those video amps really work?

Video AMPS do work. I used them for whole house distribution setups. . . You can see the difference in the picture brightness and quality when you use them. However, of the cable run is under so many feet, you don't really need one.
So, if you're using them in a car, you probably do not need one, but you can TRY it BEFORE and AFTER. IF you see that, wow, that looks good with it ON, then keep it. If you hook it up, and it looks about the same as with it not in the system, then take 'er back.
