1995 Ford Probe stereo wiring

I have a 1995 ford probe se and when I bought the car the stereo wiring harnesses were cut off and nowhere to be found.  So I found all the power wires using a DMM.  I used an external speaker to find which speaker wires were which and nothing will come out of the speakers.  The external speaker works just fine but I have nothing coming out of the speakers.  I have looked for wiring diagrams for this car but to no luck.  I keep finding ones that say "Do not cut the wires" because I think my car has a factory amp.  If possible or necessary I need to know how to bypass the amp.  So I really need to find a wiring diagram.  The repair manual I have is not corresponding with the wires that are in my car.  Thank you for your help.

If someone else can back me up on this it would be appreciated because my memory isnt that great on probes but; I believe that the factory amp is below the right rear speaker behind all the paneling next to the back seat, and there is a bypass harness that most install shops should carry, once the bypass harness is in then you could find the speaker wires at the dash with a phaze tester or a battery. or you could run wires to the output side of the amp.

slugless7 is correct. there is indeed a factory amp (on some models....most models that i've seen) inside the rear panel on the passenger side next to the seats. you can choose to bypass this amp altogther, or turn it on using the remote turn-on output from the deck. bypassing it will produce better results, but you'll lose the usage of the factory subwoofer, which is in the trunk on the passenger side. given the age of the car however, it's more than likely that the factory sub will not perform very well anyways. good luck

  some ford will also have a second harness behind the dash that will bypass the amp for you. dig around back there, you might find it.
