hey again all,

i'm looking at getting an amp and sub for my car, a fiero (STOP LAUGHING). lol i was looking at the MTX 10" t6104a and was looking at the kenwood kac-7201 amp. Is this a good amp, is this over kill for the sub? i am on a limited budget, that's why i'm going  el cheapo.

thx in advance

That is perfectly fine for a starter system. You are gonna get  a lot of post telling you to buy this amp or that amp or whatever, but the kenwood stuff is a good starter amp that will power that subwoofer fine. Is their any other line you were looking at or was that the only option?

You must have been looking at Future Shop? Anyways, while the MTX amps are more dependable the Kenwood is more power so its kinda up to you. I would shy away from the 202 just because its a little week. The 282 is an amazing little amp that sounds really good, so if latter on you decide that you wanna put it on a set of speakers it will preform very well. However if you are gonna keep this as strictly a sub amp forever,  than the kenwood would work well for you too.

Well there is nothin wrong with buying from future shop man. I would probally go with the 282 just because its a better amp, and while it is less power, it is still gonna put out sufficent power to run that 10" sub without breaking a sweat. It also looks better, IMO at least.

my parents have the 7251 running two 10" clarions in their grand prix and it sounds pretty good.  You probably wouldn't be disappointed with it.
