My New System

Alright guys, after long discussions and advice from DYohn, Kfir and the likes, I've finally have my new system installed in the car, thought I'd give you guys the run down and see what you think.

HU: Alpine CD9835

Fronts: MB Quart RSD-213 (5.25" components with a 1" tweeter)

Rear: MB Quart DS169 6x9 3 way speakers

Sub: JL Audio 12W3v2

4 Channel Amp: Eclipse EA3224

Mono Amp: Kicker DX350 (This is the amp I've had for awhile, will upgrade later)

Hey man, that looks like a great set of items you have at a pretty reasonable price.  I think the quality head unit and 4 channel amp are true system builder pieces.  i.e. even if you swap speaker in/out that head unit and amp will probably continue to provide excellent service.

Did you do the install yourself?  How did it go? 

The big question is:  how do you like the sound?  Let us know!

Yes, I did the install myself, wasn't too bad, had to use the stock speaker wires for the front components since the rubber boot going from the door to the car was covering a big plug with all the wiring for the door's electronics and no way to get any new wire through. I also used Scosche speaker adapters to go from 6x9 to 5.25. Dodge also already put sound deadening material behind the door, it was about 1/8th thick ppeice of blow mold injection foam material, so no need for Dynamat.

I flush mounted the tweeters and put the crossovers inside the door itself using plastic bags to cover them. (thanks for that input DYohn)

The single 12' sub box fits perfectly in the middle of the very back of my trunk and I mounted the 4 channel amp to the back of the car seat for easy access until I figure out what kind of amp rack setup I want to do. The mono block id on the back of the sub box.

Dodge did make it pretty easy to do all the wiring though, can easily remove panels to hide it all.

And as for how it sounds, it's purely amazinf sound quality, just what I was looking for. I've also changed my opinion on titanium tweeters, when made right they sound great.
