Defiantly upgrade the stock speakers, especially for rock music. Upgrade your FRONT speakers first, you prolly have 5" ones. Many people on here will say to buy a componet set, but a regualr coaxial speaker set should be fine, especially if your on a budget. Go to a local car audio shop and listen to a bunch of brands to find one you like.
For subs I would suggest one 12" if you listen to mostly rap, a Infinity perfect or JL W3 would be good choices.
Tomos: you asked about Boston songs. Some really good ones are; Dont Look Back,Rock and Roll Band,Let Me Take You Home Tonight,Long Time,More Than A Feeling,Peace of Mind and Smokin.

I agree with the last couple of posts about upgrading from the stock speakers as well. However, in most cases cars dont come complete with subs and therefore most people buy them first because they like the feel and sound and of course so they can say "dude i got subs." In my opinion getting subs first is a perfectly logical thing to do since your stock car cannot typically play the full range of sound adequately, hence the need for subs.

Wait a minute, i forgot to write in my point, ha, the point is get subs, then get new speakers cause you dont got no subs and you gots speakers, so why replace what you already have if you don't need to right away.

Thanks everyone for the great input so far! I should have mentioned that the replacement of the stock speakers is also in the future. Vdubmk4's comment is exactly how I was thinking. I intend to replace the stock speakers and amp them seperately eventually. I am sure this could be a new thread on it's own! The stock speakers running off of the Pioneers 50W x4 internal amp sounds OK right now (I understand the 50W x 4 is probably nowhere near what is actually being produced). I need to do this slowly purly for budget reasons.

Thanks again for your thoughts! Keep them coming!

John

Anything from the "Don't look back" album is worthy of a listen!
