I have an Alpine 7893 head unit and received a free Alpine CHM-S620 M-Bus changer. I want to use the changer but the head unit says it's a AI-Net controller and says nothing about M-bus yet the instructions say something about the CHM-S630 which is an M-Bus changer.

Is it possible to use this changer with my 7893 head unit?

I would really like to use this unit and not have to buy another changer instead. I really like that I got it free...

If the bottom of the deck has a switch that you can switch from Ai-Net to Norm then all you need is the adaptor from M-Bus to Ai-Net. If you do not have this switch you can only use the Ai-Net ready changers.

Jeff,

Can you tell me what the part number of the adapter you are talking about is.

The only adapter I have been able to find is an adapter that lets you plug an AI-net changer into older M-Bus head units and not the other way around. The head unit has the switch you are referring to but I can't find the adapter. I went to my Brick and Morter and they acted as if I didn't know what I was taking about and tried to sell me a $400 changer. Won't be going back there again...
