Hey all, I am going to be running (one) 12" Kicker Solo-Baric Sub at 750 watts with a Memphis Audio 1500 watt amp. I know for sure i am going to need a cap, but i also want to know what kinda power kit I should get for the amp. I don't know what guage wire to use or what fuse I should buy. I was thinking the Rockford Fosgate 2 awg amp kit with 100 amp fuse. I was also thinking of the 1.0 farad RF cap with digi read out. Please respond and give me info about what amp kit to get, what cap to get, what guage wire to use, etc.

Thanks,

Phatboy

All that should work fine, as long as your ground is 2 awg.

Oops! Forgot to mention the fuse. Using the calculator on https://www.the12volt.com/ohm/page2.asp you will need a 125 amp fuse......... 1500 / 12 = 125

Please, please be careful about fusing if you like your ride! The 125 recommended is actually quite safe on 2 ga wire, just like to point this out when I see it. The fuse is there to protect the wire, not the amp. The amp has it's own fuses for itself. The fuse shoudl be within 18" (Maximum!) of the battery, and not rated higher than the wire can easily and safely handle. for more info on this, read the fusing section here: http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/caraudio.htm

A great, well written resource.
