A friend of mine has installed a remote starter (RS700) on my 2001 silverado using a GM-11 "T" harness. The truck has no power windows, no power locks and no security system. The RS will crank the engine but will not let it run. What can be wrong ?? Thanks in advance !!

What type of Passlock II bypass did you use?

That is your problem. Every GM truck in that era has a factory antitheft system. Yours is known as Passlock II. Your truck will never start without the computer seeing the correct information (in Passlock it is a resistance value). There are a few methods that could be used to bypass the passlock for remote starting, but I recommend the GMBP as it requires cutting no factory wiring and is very simple to install. DEI also has the 556L or 555L but both of these require cutting wires.

Thanks a ton for your advice and help.  I bought the GMBP and had it installed and everything works great.  Just in time for the big cold snap to hit us here in Illinois.
