curious, what db causes hearing loss?

does anyone happen to know what frequences and decibles cause hearing loss or damage? haha i know that i should be asking this on freakin web MDor something but i was just curious... the frequences that seem to not be that audibly loud but shake the doodie outta my car hurt my head and ears.. haha. bangs hard as doodie

so SPL competitors are reaching what levels of decibles? and what would you say the average joe like myself with a considerable system is capable of reaching?

With bass, IIRC almost 180db is the world record.  A "loud" Joe-Shmoe thumper system, ~130db...
