The Brown wire is only an accessory wire that powers up the wipers and tells the BCM to engage the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) relay.
It is not required in this vehicle to remote start the car. If you do choose to use it you need to send a ground pulse to the driver's door pin after shut down to turn off the RAP circuit. The RAP circuit will shut off after 10 mins if you don't do this though. The other condition is if the wiper switch were left turned ON and the wipers wire stuck in ice you could damage the wiper motor if the Brown Acc wire is powered. I have done hundreds of Cavaliers and Sunfires in every year that they were made. You never had to use the Brown wire if you didn't want to. Some GM vehicles do require it, but this isn't one of them.

Sorry sparkie. I got the brown and orange wires messed up. The brown is for accessorie and the orange is for the heater. I meant to say the orange wire needed to be connected or the check engine light would come up. I wasnt at home and didnt have the manual infront of me. My bad. But all other wires must be connected.

it depends on the GM car. Some will require both and some only the orange is needed. so technically you both are kinda correct, but sparkie u did mention that some GM do require it.
