where can i get this program from? i mean don't get me wrong they hit hard, but i kno they can do better. my friend has 4 1200 watt pioneers in a custom ported box, downfiring with two long ports on each side, and his setup hits way harder than mine, and on a hifonics 2600 watt brutus. so i know if i ported my alpines they could possibly perform better. the box i have now is based on a design by a local b ut popular beat shop. their is 2 12's on each side facing each other, with a slot in the middle. the slot sits over the spare tire space in my trunk, and the bass hits in this compartment and then flows up into the trunk.

If I follow this punctuation-lite post correctly, you are saying that your friend has a louder system, and you want yours to be just as loud? But you both have about 2000 watts and 4 12's?

So you want a new ported box or new diaphrams to keep up with your friend? Is this right? Do you have a ported box now - I can't tell by the way this post is structured. . .

Woofer to woofer - the type-x is probably the best woofer you've mentioned - but if you are going for sheer output - you could probably do better with a higher-efficiency subwoofer . . .

I dunno - you really should post with more info - like available box size, the vehicle in question, etc.

well yeah basically i want mines to be louder. seeing as i have better subwoofers and amps in my opinion. the box i have now is sealed. the trunk of my car is pretty big, maybe 40/45 inches side 2 side and a lot of room from the bumper to behind the seats. vehichle is a 99 buick park ave. i just think a proper ported enclosure would hit harder than m sealed box

sedate I wouldn't worry at all about the excursion graph for the Type R. I've played 10Hz tones at around 800 watts rms in a t-line and never had any issues with excursion...lol.

Type R's sound like crap in sealed enclosures IMO...If you want to go ported can you fit a 8 cu ft enclosure??? Thats also not including port displacement or bracing.

If you don't have the room than two Type R's in a nice ported enclosure will be loud as balls.

Not shure what you mean by "slot" if it isn't a port. . . but are you sure your subs aren't fighting each other for airspace? Generally speaking, it isn't a good idea to point subs at each other ...

Anyway - 6 to 8 cft @ 35hz or so will give ya a nice response with a little bump right in the middle. . .

the Type E's are Alpines entry level...the Type R's are probably the best sub I can think of for the price...on the internet you can find em for 100 a piece. They can take 1000 watts rms easily if the signal is clean.

I fried my Type R only because I was sending it 1200 watts...I didnt care to reset the gain so I'm sure I was clipping it a bit. Finally did the day after I TRIED killing it by playing 10-20Hz tones for 10 minutes straight at full tilt so around 1200 watts rms. Only let out a tiny bit of smoke...next day my truck was filled with smoke.

So basically the Type R's are a helluva bang for the buck

How would they compare, in your opinion, to say - a JLw3? or w6?

power handling I'd compare them to the W6.

Sound quality they are far behind the W6 and less than the Type X

Output potential I'd say more than both the JL's.

I love the Type R though...its a good quality all around sub.

i agree with aznboi3644 except for the quality, i believe theyare right up there with the w6. i was running a 10" type r, rms 400, and it wa he cleanest sounding sub i have had in a long time. had a w6 10 with a 500/1, 2 12w3s with same amp, a type x 10 with a pdx 600.1. And the type r had the best quality, and output, out of all the setups. (lacked output compared to 2 12w3s) i am a huge supporter of these subs... getting ready to run four tens in my civic hatchback in the next month.

you can do it....

sq from the sub largely depends on the enclosure also...with both the Type R and W6 in optimal enclosures...the W6 still is superior in sq.
