best amp for mbq pce 216 comps

I just bought an MB quart PCE 216 6.5" component set. I have two amps that i could use to run it, one being an old school rockford 500a2 or a newer rockford P450.2 They are both in about the same class as far as power goes... the 500a2 being 125x2 @ 4ohms and the 450.2 being at 100x2 @ 4ohms... but i am curious if the 500a2 would produce a higher SQ being it has a higher SN ratio of 100Db to the 450.2's 80Db.... any input that you guys have would be greatly appreciated! thank you!MY System, Pioneer Owns...Thanx Gabe

From the viewpoint that you could run the higher powered one with a slightly lower gain setting to get the same output, (this will improve your S/N from the get-go) I would go with that one. I also will ALWAYS choose higher power in any identical application - headroom. Additionally it is a SIGNIFICANTLY better S/N ratio, so... if FORCED to choose between those two amps, use that one. My personal opinion would to be never use Rockford-Fosbreak on ANY high-frequency application. Their frequency response above 3 to 5KHz (probably right where your crossover is in your Quarts) sucks.
