You're right as far as the wiring - brown would go to the blue, red to red, and the black ground wire to the 556U isn't necessary in that case.
PKU-CH is IMO better than the 555C - programs easier and the antenna ring gets picked up easier than the pellet.

The 555c programs much better if you hold the tip of the module about 3/4" to 1" from the key slot. Most people that can't program it hold it too close to the ignition cylinder. Back when I installed I never had a problem programming them. My coworkers that held them too close would have problems.
