I had/have problems with a remote start on a 98 Cavilar. I think its in the passlock bypass. My wife gets a new company car soon so I'm going todo anything to it, I'm leave this on alone. The more research I do the more I see problems with Caviars and Sunfires. Why do these cars have more problems the most others...

there easy as long as you have the right info on how to bypass the "floating passlock", you just need a relay and a resistor to do it properly, and it only takes about 10 minutes more of work, not a big deal.

I have never had a bypass module work on a cavalier with a Passlock I. I have always used relays and a resistor like mike said.

95 % of the time there's a problem, it's an installer error.

I've never had a problem with them. The 98's had Passlock 1 if I remember. The bulb check wire can be a little tricky to wire up if your remote starter doesn't have a wire that shows ground only during cranking. I'll agree with Jeff that 95% of problems with those cars are installer error.
