2000 VW Jetta VR6 GlX with a 400 watt orion amp and 12" sub installed. Pioneer head unit. Amp hooked up with 8guage wire and a 60amp fuse to the 75 amp terminal under the dash. The fog lamps flicker a little when the bass hits(hard). Should I be concerned? Should I choose a different power source? Am I overloading anything?
thanks

Try running your power wire for your amp directly to your battery and upgrading it to a 4 ga. and 4 ga. for your ground as well. I would never run power to an amp off anything else than your battery. If you have it hooked up to some other system it could definately be overloading it and causing your problem because an amp demands a lot of juice. There are lots of custom battery terminals out there so you can make a solid connection with great ease. Good luck

Yeah that is definately too much to use the fuse panel for. Don't use the fuse panel for any amp that draws above like 15-20A of current at max volume. You don't need a 4ga kit. If you already have an 8ga kit that will reach the battery, keep that. If you have less, then upgrade to 4ga just in case you upgrade the amp later. You don't need a custom battery terminal, just put a ring terminal on the screw of the current one (make sure it's clean) and make that sucker tight. If the problem is still there after but not too severe, use a capacitor. If it is severe, then try and find out who swapped your alternator with a 25A one 2000 Jetta Head Lights Flicker -- posted image. and then replace that.
