Just wanted to add a little more to this. I don't want you think my post was saying it was ok to do what you are doing. If it were my vehicle, I probably wouldn't mess with anything around that brain. It's not worth the risk to me. Nothing would ruin my day more than having an air bag blow up in my face for. What about doing subs under your rear seat....if you have an extended cab. I have 2 12" MTX subs in my 04 Silverado. Prefab box, slides under the seat with subs firing down, and it's got a nice punch. Even if it's a regular cab, you could still get a couple of 12" behind the seats.

thanks for the info two reasons i am doing it in the center one is it is an extended cab but i usually leave my rear seats up and use it alot for storage i am a landscaper and some stuff cant get wet until it is used( like fertilizer and chemicals) the other reason is i like custom fiberglass and it makes it knd of hidden but i think just to be safe i might make it a rear fireing sub I will have to start over but better to do it now rather than later after i have to buy new airbags.  I really apreiciate all your help and your comments.

maybee another idea do you think it could be moved since it is just a brain and no sensors?

Lets clear this up right now...AIrbags will not go off unless a sensor is disturbed...ie...an accident. Even if you remove the crash/shock sensor completely, it won't fire the airbag. A airbag light will come on just like the check engine light when there is a powertrain problem. The worse thing that can happen is the module going bad and tripping the airbag light...but it will not blow in your face. As for running the module somewhere else...you don't have enough slack in the wiring harness to do that and before you ask...no you can't cut the wires and make them longer. Keep in mind that the inside of that module looks similiar to the inside of an amp. People mount amps on sub enclosures all the time w/o a problem. I'm not saying go put a jl audio 13w7 on top of that module an its gonna be fine but wit most subs, nothing will happen to the module.

running a sub over an amp is completely different than running a sub over a restraint module. I wouldn't be concerned about the impact sensors at all either. What I would be concerned about, is potential shorting inside the module. It all up to you, I would definately protect the module if you decide to do it.

Well to the other people not listening to me...I have been a technician for nissan motor corp for 10 years now. I am an expert in the electrical side of the automotive industry. No, there aren't any sensors in that module. My comparision between an amp and that module are that they are similar when you crack them both open. They're both made up of circuit boards with small welds which are susceptable to breaking apart with the excessive vibration coming from the sub. What I was saying is that if an amp can hold up to that vibration, the module will most likely hold up to it. Not saying go mount it there...but an airbag will not blow in your face if it malfunctions. As for making the wires longer in order to reposition the module...sounds like a simple idea and it will only take you about half hour to do it but you can't. The airbag system runs on very low electrical feedback from the sensors. Adding extra length in wire and welding both ends will introduce extra resistance which is normally not recognized by the module. That can cause a malfunction light to come on and your back to square 1.

Now, what you can do is remove the plastic tubing covering the wires leading up to the module which will allow you to move the wires around more freely. That plastic is tough and won't let you bend the wires. If the wires are long enough already...you can run them back towards the direction where they are coming from and just mount the module there. I don't know how much wire is there and I don;t know how it looks so I can't really say. Any other questions...PM me.

I am going to go ahead and run it my only concern was the air bag going off.  if its not going to than i am fine with it.  its only about 150 watts and i dont usually play very loud.  just looking for a little punch.  if i can move it i will but definatly going to protect it somehow.  as soon as i get a deck then i will hook it up and see how it sounds to make sure i dont need to make an adjustment before i glass it.  any body have any comments on pioneer good or bad.  personally i have always had them and am familliar with it.
